2017 MLB Mock Draft 5.0
With less than an hour left until the draft begins, there’s still a ton of uncertainty at the top. Rumors have floated around the Twins, Padres, Rays and Braves throughout the day. The Twins are believed to be taking Royce Lewis and the Reds won’t let Hunter Greene get past them. San Diego remains a mystery, but the Padres have scouted MacKenzie Gore aggressively. The Rays have left their options open, doing their homework on the signability of prep outfielders Bubba Thompson and Jordon Adell just in case, but it appears that two-way Louisville star Brendan McKay may fall into their laps. If the Rays end up with McKay, they could let him do both pitch and hit. Atlanta is in deal-making mode, and could end up spending big bucks on its second and third picks. David Peterson has been rumored inside the top 10 picks throughout the day. The Oregon lefthander is now expected to fly off the board. Several prep outfielders are in line for big paydays in the supplemental first round.
