Arizona State has the most alumni on division series rosters, with five players still playing this postseason. Jason Kipnis is with the Indians, Deven Marrero and Dustin Pedroia are teaming up for the Red Sox and Austin Barnes and Andre Ethier are playing for the Dodgers. Arizona State had 10 alumni on Opening Day rosters, tied with Long Beach State for the most in the country this year.
Virginia ranks second with four alumni still in the postseason. Sean Doolittle and Ryan Zimmerman are again teammates with the Nationals, Derek Fisher is in Houston and Chris Taylor is with the Dodgers.
Seven teams have three alumni still in the postseason: Fresno State, Georgia, North Carolina, Rice, San Diego State and South Carolina.
Cosumnes River (Calif.) JC is the lone junior college to have multiple alumni on division series rosters. D-backs teammates David Hernandez and Kristopher Negron both went straight from Cosmunes River to pro ball.
Of the 200 players who were on rosters at the start of the division series, 111 went to a two- or four-year college. They represent 79 different schools, from Florida (Austin Maddox), the defending Division I national champion, to Connecticut-Avery Point JC (Rajai Davis).
This count credits players for their final college season before they went to pro ball. Kipnis counts for Arizona State, but not for Kentucky, where he began his college career. Players who went to a four-year school after junior college are counted only for their four-year school.
