Nori is 5-foot-11, 188-pound outfielder whose advanced age for the prep class will take him off many teams’ draft boards outright. He will be 19 on draft day and turns 20 in October, which makes him one of the oldest prospects in the class and one of the older top 100 talents the industry has seen in years. However, Nori also happens to be one of the better athletes, runners, defenders and pure hitters in the class. He employs a compact and direct swing from the left side and sets up with a wide base and minimal pre-pitch movements. He does a great job spraying line drives to all fields. Nori makes quality two-strike adjustments, and while he’s a contact-driven hitter in games, he has plenty of raw power that he can flash in batting practice as well. He consistently turns in 70-grade run times and had the fastest 60-yard time at Perfect Game’s national showcase in 2023. He uses that speed effectively on the bases and in center field, where he should stick and be a solid-average defender with a strong throwing arm. Nori’s age and lack of projection are the lone marks against him, and they could mean he gets to campus at Mississippi State, but he’s a top-three rounds talent.

That didn’t keep the Phillies from selecting the Michigan prep product with the 27th overall pick and using a bonus of $2,497,500 to keep him from going to Mississippi State. His pro debut was limited to just 16 games, all of which came at Low-A Clearwater of the Florida State League.

Scouting Report: Nori’s skill set is centered around speed, defense and athleticism. The lefthanded-hitting outfielder is a double-plus runner and was one of the fastest players in his draft class. He sets up with a wide base, employs minimal pre-pitch movements and uses a quick, level swing to spray line drives to all sectors of the ballpark before scooting around the basepaths. He’s earned praise for his two-strike approach and has shown solid raw power in batting practice, as evidenced by an impressive showing in the home run derby at the 2023 PG All-American Classic. In games, he shows a strong ability to control the zone without chasing. Now, he needs to learn when to unleash his best swings and take shots at making more impactful contact. If he reaches his ceiling, his power could get to fringe-average. Nori’s 60-yard dash time at the PG event was the fastest among all prospects in attendance. The speed also plays in center field, allowing him to glide to balls forward, backward and to either side. He projects as an above-average defender with above-average arm strength.

The Future: After getting his feet wet at Low-A in 2024, Nori is likely to return to the level to begin 2025. He has the look of a turn-and-burn center fielder who can lose a ball over the fence every now and then.

Nori’s age will surely hurt him for model-heavy teams who might prefer him to get to campus at Mississippi State, but it’s hard to find pure hitters and Nori does that while profiling at a premium position.
