A three-year starter at Long Beach State, Luttrell led the Dirtbags in nearly every offensive category this spring and finished his career 10th in program history in home runs. A 6-foot-1, 200-pound lefthanded hitter, Luttrell has a solid plate approach and uses the whole field. He is prone to swinging and missing, but he makes enough contact to be a fringe-average hitter with average power and shows more thump in batting practice. He does struggle to recognize spin at times. Luttrell doesn't offer much defensively. He is a below-average defender with below-average arm strength and will be limited to left field as a pro. He has a chance to become a fringe-average defender with more refinement.

Draft Prospects
School: Long Beach State Committed/Drafted: Never Drafted Age At Draft: 22.1 Luttrell has shown a solid approach at the plate for Long Beach State and after a down 2019 season, has hit over .300 for the Dirtbags in each season since. This spring he hit .312/.365/.520 with nine home runs and 17 doubles. Scouts think he can be a fringy hitter with average power, though he has shown more raw power in batting practice that has yet to fully translate to games. Luttrell will expand the zone and swing and miss, with some questions about his pitch recognition and ability to recognize spin, but he has also shown an ability to use all fields. Luttrell has played first base and all three outfield positions for Long Beach State but was the team’s primary right fielder this spring. A below-average arm will make left field his best position, where he could become a fringe-average defender with more refinement.
