Saunier is an athletic and lanky, 6-foot-3, 168-pound righthander who has trended in the right direction with his velocity. Last summer he pitched in the upper 80s and showed good feel to spin a curveball with impressive depth and spin rates in the 2,500-2,700 rpm range, but his game lacked power at the time. This spring, it’s been different. Scouts have seen Saunier throw in the 93-96 mph range with his fastball early in outings before tapering off later in the game, with the same impressive feel for spin. With that natural ability to spin the baseball, he should develop a plus curveball to go along with above-average fastball velocity. While the future physical projection and curveball are the highlights, Saunier has also shown some feel for a changeup with fading action as well. He is young for the class, committed to Mississippi and expected to be a tough sign.
