  Sylvester has been a fast riser on the West Coast this spring and is one of the top prospects in Hawaii for the 2022 class. A strong and filled out, 6-foot, 197-pound catcher, Sylvester has shown impressive raw power and arm strength. He has plus raw power now and some scouts think he has a chance to get to double-plus raw power in the future. He’ll need to refine his hitting ability to make the most of that power in-game, as it’s certainly a power-over-hit offensive profile now—though Sylvester played in the West Coast League after his high school season and homered twice in his first five games with more walks (six) than strikeouts (four). He showed the ability to turn on breaking balls and drive fastballs the other way over the fence. His arm strength is his carrying tool defensively, but he will need to improve his actions to become an average receiver behind the plate. Sticking behind the dish will be important, as Sylvester is a below-average runner who could continue to slow down as he physically matures. Sylvester is a Washington commit who could be a tough sign but is viewed as a potential top-five round talent.
