A member of USA Baseball's 15U National Team that won gold at the Pan-Am Championships in Mexico in 2015, Morgan went on to become a three-year starter at Fresno State and was a finalist for the Buster Posey National Catcher of the Year award this spring. He hit .381/.454/.592 and was one of the most productive college catchers in the nation. Morgan is an extreme contact hitter who rarely strikes out. His contact-heavy approach lends itself to below-average power, but he does have the strength to drive balls into the gaps and rack up doubles. He had more walks (25) than strikeouts (17) this spring and has the high-contact approach that analytical teams favor. Morgan is an average defender behind the plate with an above-average, accurate arm that helped him throw out 42% of basestealers this spring. Morgan's above-average contact skills and solid defense behind the plate have him in top 10 rounds consideration. He's a redshirt junior and already 22 years old, so he could be taken as money-saving senior sign.

A redshirt junior, Morgan hit his way into draft consideration as one of the most productive catchers on the West Coast. Morgan hit .381/.454/.592 this year with a contact-heavy approach that analytical draft models will love, although those same models won’t be thrilled by his age (22). Morgan struck out in only 6.7% of plate appearances while walking 9.9% of the time. It’s a contact-heavy approach that leads to below-average power, but Morgan does have the ability to line doubles to the gaps. Behind the plate, Morgan threw out 42% of basestealers with an above-average, accurate arm. He’s average defensively. As a solid backstop with an above-average bat, Morgan is a potentially valuable senior sign.
