School: Oklahoma State
Commit/Drafted: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.4
BA Grade: 45/High
Tools: Fastball: 60. Slider: 50. Changeup: 40. Cutter: 45. Control: 40.
Keisel is a 6-foot-4, 208-pound righthander who has had a bit of a rollercoaster college career over three seasons. He started strong with Brigham Young in 2022 as a split starter, struggled in his first year with Oklahoma State in 2023 when he pitched just 18.1 innings and struggled with command, then in 2024 posted a 3.38 ERA over 34.2 innings and eight starts in his arguably best college season. Keisel added a bit of power to his fastball, which averaged 93-95 mph this spring and was up to 99, but the pitch has always played up thanks to its unique release characteristics and shape. Keisel throws from a sidearm slot that creates a low release height and he generates excellent riding life on the fastball that makes it a consistent swing-and-miss pitch at the top of the zone. He also has a two-seam variation of the fastball and will mix in a low-80s slider, mid-80s changeup and a harder variant of the slider in the upper 80s that has more of a cutter look. The softer slider variation has been Keisel’s go-to secondary against both lefties and righties, but in general he has been a high-fastball usage pitcher. Keisel’s below-average control has always been an issue that’s held him back and could ultimately push him to the bullpen in pro ball. If Keisel doesn’t sign this year he announced his decision to transfer to Oregon for the 2025 season.
