School: Baylor
Commit/Drafted: Never Drafted
Age at Draft: 21.9
Marriott is a 6-foot, 198-pound righthander who has been a key piece of Baylor’s pitching staff since the day he stepped on campus. He made 18 appearances out of the bullpen in 2022 then led the team with 14 starts in 2023 and once again pitched in a full-time starter role in 2024 when he posted a 5.94 ERA in 14 starts and 69.2 innings. Marriott’s results have only been so-so in his college career but scouts could be intrigued by his velocity and high-spin rate breaking balls. He averaged 93 mph and touched 97 this spring while mixing in a mid-80s slider and curveball around 80. Both breaking balls have big depth and sweeping action and spin rates in the 2,700 rpm range. He has also thrown an occasional upper-80s changeup against lefthanded hitters. It would be unsurprising for him to move into a reliever role in pro ball where he can pitch closer to his peak velocity and up his breaking ball usage.
