Standing at an imposing 6-foot-10, 230 pounds, Gervase transferred to LSU in 2022 from Pitt (N.C.) Community College. In 39 innings of work for the Tigers this spring, the righthanded reliever posted a 1.85 ERA with 52 punchouts in 39 innings of work. With plenty of deception from his height, Gervase’s 90-94 mph fastball jumps on hitters quickly, presenting itself like an upper-90s fastball. He will mix in an 80-83 mph slider with traditional break on occasion, but most of his pitches are fastballs over the plate challenging both lefthanded and righthanded hitters. Though a redshirt junior, scouts feel there’s upside left with Gervase. His height and deceptive fastball are enough to give him a spot in pro ball.
