Jerzembeck is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound righthander who stands out for his tremendous feel to spin the baseball. He was a highly-ranked prospect out of high school and was the No. 129 prospect in the 2022 draft class, but made it to South Carolina, where he pitched 31.2 innings in 2023 before an injury ended his season and wiped out his 2024 campaign as well. When healthy, Jerzembeck has thrown a low-90s fastball that touches 96, and he can break off a curveball and slider that have plus potential and spin rates nearing the 3,000 rpm range. He’s also mixed in a mid-80s changeup, but his slider and curveball are the bread-and-butter of his arsenal. Jerzembeck’s injury status and lack of starting track record in college cloud his draft stock for 2024, but there’s real arm talent here for a team hoping for him to bounce back. -

The son of Mike Jerzembeck—who was a fifth-round draft pick by the Yankees in 1993 and pitched in the big leagues in 1998—Eli is a projectable righthander with a loose arm and terrific feel to spin the baseball. His velocity is inconsistent. At times he’ll pitch in the 89-91 mph range and other times he’ll operate at 92-95 mph. What scouts will see every time they watch Jerzembeck, however, is a hard-biting breaking ball in the mid 70s with high spin rates in the 2,800-2,900-rpm range. Jerzembeck has also thrown a low-80s changeup with arm-side fade and tumble at times but needs to develop more consistency with the pitch. He sells it well with good arm speed (and he’s got plenty of whippy arm speed in general) and it looks like a swing-and-miss pitch at times when he locates it down. It’s another solid secondary, but the breaking ball looks like his true out pitch. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound righthander is committed to South Carolina, but could be selected in the third-to-fourth round range depending on his signability. If he does make it to campus, Jerzembeck will be sophomore-eligible in 2024, and will be 19 on draft day.
