School: Oklahoma State
Commit/Drafted: Rangers ’21 (16)
Age at Draft: 21.9
Ure was drafted in the 16th round out of high school by the Rangers in 2021, but he didn’t sign and made it to campus at Oklahoma State where he has rarely pitched after dealing with a Tommy John surgery that wiped out his 2023 season entirely. He’s only thrown 14.2 innings with Oklahoma State in his career, including just 3.2 across nine appearances this spring. Ure did pitch at the June draft combine, which was a key event for him considering his lack of innings and also spent some time in the Cape Cod League after the season. His pure arm talent and size is enticing, as Ure has been up to 97 mph and sits in the low-to-mid-90s. He’s got a chance for a decent mid-80s slider and changeup in the same velocity band, but he’s a stiff mover on the mound who has below-average control. There’s solid stuff to dream on with Ure, and a team could take a shot on him at some point on day three despite his lack of track record.
