Wright ranked as a top-300 prospect in the 2023 draft class thanks to his contact skills and versatile defensive ability around the infield but went undrafted. Now a 6-foot, 205-pound senior, Wright has had a better offensive season in 2024 than in 2023, with fewer strikeouts and more in-game power. He is a bit aggressive, but his added power should encourage teams who might like him as a senior target who can play all over the infield at a solid clip.

Wright should boast an appealing profile to many clubs late on day two or early on day three thanks to his shortstop defense and strong contact skills. The 6-foot, 195-pound shortstop had a tremendous 2022 season, but regressed a bit in 2023, when he slashed .249/.325/.399 with eight home runs, a 14.9% strikeout rate and a 10.1% walk rate. He made contact at an 80% clip this season, though he needs to do a better job staying within the strike zone as his approach got aggressive—particularly in conference play. Wright earns praise for his defensive work all over the infield, and he could provide utility infield value, though he’ll need to either add more power or improve his swing decisions to give himself a chance to profile as an everyday sort of player at the next level. He also struggled in the Cape Cod League in 2022, when he slashed just .206/.307/.262 with 27 strikeouts and 16 walks.
