Hudepohl pitched two seasons with Kentucky, mostly coming out of the bullpen, before transferring to Charlotte and transitioning to a starting role after a summer with Wareham in the Cape Cod League. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound righthander posted a 4.27 ERA in 17 starts and 105.1 innings in 2023, with a 29.3% strikeout rate and 6.1% walk rate. Against Old Dominion in March he set a program record with 17 strikeouts in a single game. Hudepohl throws a fastball in the 90-94 mph range that touches 96 and will mix in a power curveball in the low 80s, an upper-80s changeup and a cutter that clocks in at 85-92 mph. While Hudepohl considerably improved his walk rate and also generated many more ground balls this spring, he’s still been a bit home run prone throughout his career, and allowed 15 this spring.
