Draft Prospects
-
A projection righthander out of Washington committed to Washington State, area scouts were looking forward to seeing Brotherton’s progress on the mound this spring. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, that didn’t come to pass, and in a five-round draft, Brotherton is likely to make it to campus. Over the summer Brotherton showed a solid fastball/changeup combination. His fastball was in the 87-90 mph range and he showed impressive feel for a changeup in the low 80s that he threw with good arm speed. He’d also shown a mid-70s curveball with three-quarter shape and solid spin in the 2,500 rpm range at the Area Code Games. With a frame that could add strength in the future and a clean delivery and three-quarter arm action, Brotherton has plenty of room for a jump in stuff at the next level.
