Draft Prospects
-
Chestnutt is a large, broad-shouldered righthander with a 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame and a solid three-pitch mix. He has been up to 93 mph but is more typically in the 86-89 mph range at the moment, with heavy sink and running action on his fastball. Chestnutt pairs that fastball with a true, 12-to-6 curveball that has depth. He’s shown an ability to land the pitch well, which is impressive considering its shape and some evaluators have seen a solid changeup as well. Chestnutt is close to maxed out physically and doesn’t have a ton of future projection to bank on, but he is an advanced strike thrower who could get to campus at Florida State and find himself in a weekend starting role quickly.
