White excelled pitching primarily out of the bullpen for California in 2021 and moved into the Friday night starter's role for the Golden Bears this spring. After a hot start to the season, White hit a wall in conference play and struggled to find any consistency. White has premium stuff with a 92-95 mph fastball and a plus slider in the low-80s with downward bite. He also has a top-to-bottom, upper-70s curveball that gets swings and misses and a fading mid-80s changeup that is a usable fourth pitch. While White has plenty of stuff, his short, thick frame and high-effort delivery lead to scattered control and inconsistency from start to start, or even inning to inning. He misses bats when he's in the strike zone, but often isn't in the strike zone enough. He does display toughness and the ability to rebound from ugly innings. White's loud stuff and below-average control project best in a bullpen. He projects to be taken in the middle of the draft's second day.

White posted a 2.79 ERA over 61.1 innings during the 2021 season for California, while mostly pitching out of the bullpen. In 2022, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound righthander stepped into the team’s Friday night role and struck out 10 or more batters while walking two or fewer in each of his first three starts against Houston, Illinois-Chicago and Florida State. After that, White started to show inconsistencies between his outings and from inning to inning within them, with control in particular serving as a bit of an Achilles’ heel. Scouts love White’s pure stuff. He throws a four-pitch mix with a fastball that sits in the 90-93 mph range but has been up to 97 with two plus breaking balls. The first is a slider around 83 mph with hard downward bite and the second is a spike-grip curveball around 80 mph with similar top-down shape. He generated whiffs more than 50% of the time with both pitches this spring. He’s also used a mid-80s changeup with slight fading action, but it’s a distant fourth option. White has scattered control at best and his delivery is more indicative of a reliever profile, with a lengthy, stabbing arm action and plenty of recoil throughout his finish.
