Gerth is a 6-foot-3, 225-pound righthander with a solid sinker/slider combination and a workhorse frame. He throws his fastball in the low 90s and has been up to 95 and shows some ability to spin a solid slider in the low 80s that can occasionally get more loopy and blend into a slurvier breaking ball. Gerth’s strike-throwing is raw and he often has poor direction to the plate with a finish that leaves him falling towards the first base side. He is committed to DBU.
