College Programs With The Most 2024 BA 500 MLB Draft Prospects

The final version of the Baseball America Top 500 draft prospects has a strong LSU flavor. The Tigers lead all colleges with 11 players on the list and are tied with Tennessee for the most commits (13).

LSU last year became the first college to produce the Nos. 1 and 2 picks in the MLB draft when Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews went back-to-back at the top of the draft and the team had 13 players drafted, the third-most all-time. 

No team is projected to have that kind of impact on this year’s draft, but expect to hear the names of some Tigers early, likely starting with All-Americans Luke Holman and Tommy White.

South Carolina and Vanderbilt are tied for the second most players on the top 500 with eight each. Tennessee, the national champion, has seven players ranked, as do Alabama and Wake Forest.

Colleges With The Most BA 500 Commits

Among commits, LSU and Tennessee lead the way. The Tigers and the Volunteers recruiting classes also ranked Nos. 1 and 2 on signing day in November, making their large crop of commits ranked on the top 500 no surprise.

LSU and Tennessee are both certain to lose some of their top recruits to the draft. In recent years, the top-ranked classes have lost at least three or four commits to pro ball. That will make for a tense week ahead in Baton Rouge and Knoxville. 

Auburn, Miami, Mississippi and Texas follow with nine commits each on the top 500. Those four teams all signed top-15 classes in November.
