Nicholson is a lanky righthander who has stood out as an underclassman for his physical projection and feel to spin the ball. His present velocity isn’t as high as some of the other top pitchers in the 2025 high school class, though it’s starting to tick up, climbing from the upper-80s to now reaching 93 mph. There’s ample room for him to add more weight to his projectable 6-foot-5, 190-pound frame, which should lead to velocity gains. The ball comes out of his hand with ease from his loose, elastic arm action into a balanced delivery. He also throws a mid-to-upper 70s slider that has tight rotation and snaps off with two-plane depth at its best, a swing-and-miss pitch that should only get better once he adds more power to his entire arsenal. He has shown some feel for a changeup too, though his breaking ball is his go-to secondary pitch.
