The latest edition of the Arizona Fall League is just days away, with opening day scheduled for October 7.
On Wednesday, the league gave fans their first look at the league’s initial rosters, which feature 13 of Baseball America’s Top 100 prospects. The group is led by Mariners shortstop Colt Emerson, who ranks No. 11 on the current iteration of the list.
To preview the 2024 season, we’ll be breaking down rosters for each AFL team. You can find the complete set of rosters as part of our AFL fan guide here.
Scottsdale Scorpions
Top 100 Prospects: Bryce Eldridge, 1B, Giants (35); Jett Williams, SS, Mets (46), Thayron Liranzo, C, Tigers (88)
Other Intriguing Prospects: Pirates infielder Termarr Johnson entered the year as one of the best young talents in the sport. The 2024 season was trying, however, and he’s fallen out of the Top 100. Still, there is no denying his power and bat speed, which could dazzle in the offensive environment of the Fall League … The Blue Jays’ minor league pitching corps was decimated by injuries all year long, and Kendry Rojas was no exception. The 21-year-old lefty was on the injured list from late April until early July but otherwise spent the bulk of his year at High-A Vancouver. There, the Cuban southpaw struck out 69 hitters in 62.2 innings while issuing just 14 walks. Rojas works with an evenly distributed four-pitch mix led by a fastball that peaked at 96 mph … Giants outfielder Bo Davidson has been a revelation this season, showing a solid all-around tool set led by power and speed that are both above-average or better, as well as a plus throwing arm that would fit well in right field.
