Drafted in the 10th round (299th overall) by the Chicago Cubs in 2006 (signed for $60,000).

Renshaw maintained a 91-94 mph fastball most of the season and his numbers this spring were similar to those of Justin Souza, and so is his background. This is his third season in college (he sat out a year because of academics) and he's ready to get his pro career started. The Red Sox took him in the 26th round in 2004 after his freshman season, but he took a medical redshirt in 2005 and missed the season. With a bigger body at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Renshaw's pure stuff is better than Souza's as his mid-80s slider is a true power breaking ball.
