Luensmann is one of many projectable high school arms from Pennsylvania this year. Armed with a projectable 6-foot-3 frame and wide shoulders, Luensmann shows promise with three pitches. He has a funky delivery, with a high leg kick to start and a short-to-long arm action. Luensmann has outstanding arm speed and finishes with excellent extension out front. His fastball works in the upper 80s, occasionally touching 90 mph, and the pitch shows heavy sinking action down in the zone. The righthander pitches off of his fastball and has a knack for generating ground balls. He has shown feel for a curveball, a slider, and a changeup, with the slider being his best secondary at present, but his offspeed stuff needs tightening. Luensmann is an above-average athlete and has advanced pitchability. He is committed to Nebraska, where he could have an immediate impact should no pro team meet his asking price.
