Draft Report Card Overview

Executive editor Jim Callis wrote all the capsules through information gathered during Baseball America’s predraft reporting in May and with conversations with scouting directors since the conclusion of the season.

A player must have signed to be eligible for the categories on a team’s Draft Report Card, with the exceptions of Most Intriguing Background and, obviously, The One Who Got Away. Best Late-Round Pick refers to players chosen in the 10th round or later. The number in parentheses after a player’s name indicates the round in which he was selected.

Though it’s too early to be precise enough to give a grade to each team’s draft, several teams’ draft classes have made definite first impressions. Callis and BA editor Allan Simpson have collaborated to present a summary of those impressions here. More detailed information can be found with each team’s capsule.
